Chestnut Meadow campsite  is a friendly family run campsite situated near to Bexhill on Sea that is good value for money and great for families. We have visited this campsite quite a few times now with friends and their children and sometimes just by ourselves and have enjoyed every visit.

The Location

Located within '1066' countryside, the campsite is about 10 minutes drive away from the centre of the ancient town of Bexhill on Sea where you can find plenty of shops and restaurants if you want an evening out.

The nearest beaches are at Bexhill , Eastbourne, St Leonards and Hastings and are all great beaches to visit on a sunny summers day though we have also had fun there on the slightly chillier months as that doesn't seem to bother the children!

The Campsite

As soon as you enter the campsite you find the reception and shop which is reasonably well stocked. The campsite is arranged around a central field. There are 2 rows around the field one facing the field and the other on the roadside perimeter. Then there is another set of pitches on the other side of the road. The first most notable thing about the pitches are the size of the pitches which are very spacious so that you can fit a big tent and your car without encroaching on your neighbours. A 16amp power point is also available for the pitches should you wish to use one.

There are no fixed accommodation dwellings here, but they do have the facilities for caravans, campervans. As this campsite is aimed at families, it has a noise curfew from 11pm to 7:30am.

The shower/toilet block here was very clean and tidy and well lit. There are also washing facilities undercover on the side of this building which gives you the opportunity to catch up with our fellow campers  while washing up, and the free communal chest freezer for all campers to enable you to re-freeze your ice blocks for your cool boxes.

So what about the children?

Its all well and good being a spacious campsite but what about the children? Well they loved it! The field in the middle meant that they could fly a kite, play football, cricket or rounders without annoying the other campers and in fact we frequently had more than one family on there at the same time because there was so much room. The road around the field is frequently filled with children cycling or scooting around it as it is nice and smooth and the cars all drive with this in mind with the 5 mph speed limit. Added to this is a small play park and a games room with table football and table tennis tables.

Overall this is a really nice campsite where parents can relax a little whilst still being able to look after their children and the large pitches make such a difference so that you don't feel cramped.

We tend to book directly with the campsite owners via their website here. So and have a look - Happy camping!
